Coronation Fete

The morning of the Monday Bank Holiday did not disappoint.  At least, it did not disappoint the weather forecasters who had promised us rain, and rain it did.  The fete was relocated to the Williams Hall and one must assume that some stall holders had pulled out, perhaps fearing that the turn-out would be poor, because there was not a lot to see when you got in there.  However, the numbers attending were surprisingly good, given the dreary weather.  If you had a gambling bent, you were in luck since we were offered an excellent tombola-style bottle stall by the WI, another lucky go at winning soft toys by the Friends of the School and the Parish Church ran the raffle with some highly desirable prizes, including a roast beef dinner in a basket and many others, some given by private individuals and a number by local businesses.  The Willowset produced sumptuous cakes for the teas and, if the noise level was anything to judge by, a good time was generally had.

The main thrust of this little item is to say a huge thank you to those kind people and businesses who gave so generously to the Raffle on behalf of the Parish Church and to all the other optimists who bought raffle tickets in the hope of winning their Sunday roast!
